Vision and Values

West Island Baptist Church exists to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the community and the world in obedience to His command to go into all the world and make disciples of every nation.

The following statements reflect our values:

The Word of God: WIBC finds its purpose in the written and the living Word. We study what it says and seek to apply its teachings to our lives and community. (2 Tim 3:16)

The Gospel: WIBC passionately proclaims that Jesus Christ rescue lost people. This message is at the heart of who we are! (1 Peter 2:9-10)

People: WIBC values people. We seek to be a place where people can come to find grace and mercy. (Isa 55:1; Luke 19:10)

Community: WIBC is a community that works together, worships together and shares the love of God with the world. We regularly meet together to build this community. (Heb 10:25)

Prayer: WIBC comes to God in recognition of who He is and our need of His grace. (Hebrews 4:12)

Integrity: WIBC desires to honour God and each other by being honest and above reproach in every area of life. (Prov 10:9)

Relevancy: WIBC seeks to be in the world but not of the world. We desire to meet people in their point of need in order that they may understand who Jesus is. (1 Corinthians 8)

Team Approach: WIBC believes that God has equipped each person to make a unique contribution to make for the advancement of the kingdom. As each uses their talent or gift, we make a difference in the world. Pastor and people are equally important to the work of God. (I Cor 12; Eph. 4:12-16)
